apply now latest offers for members resources school farms network home school farms network there are now more than 116 school farms in the uk. social farms & gardens (formerly fcfcg) helped set up and co-ordinates the school farms network, which offers support and assistance to school farms and facilitates the exchange of ideas and information, including peer teacher support. in addition, an e-newsletter is regularly dispatched to members to keep them up to date and this webpage is updated with useful information including contact details. nb: a number of school farms are members of social farms & gardens. it is free to join, just click on the following link and fill in the online form: join now latest news rau teachers and advisers conference 2018 the school farms network education alliance invites all school farms network members (existing school farms and those schools considering starting or expanding their animal provision) to the rau teachers and advisers conference, to be held at the royal agricultural university (rau) on monday 2 july 2018. building on the highly successful sfnea conference held at the rau in june-july 2017, this conference will focus on encouraging, driving and supporting the access of young people to higher education, particularly those with an interest and passion in land-based higher education. date: monday 2 july, 2018 time: 10:00 - 15:00 location: royal agricultural university, cirencester cost: free we are pleased that the event will be followed by the annual sfnea awards 2018, from approximately 16:00. if you would like to attend this event, please email [email protected] . why attend? the aim of the teachers and advisers conference is to raise awareness of land-based options at both further and higher education, including the wide range of career opportunities in the sector. the event will complement the practical focus on the sfnea regional meetings, and provide opportunities for members of the sfn to find out more about land-based education at university, network with one another, and attend breakout sessions specifically for sfn members. these include: panel discussion: how can land-based universities and colleges support the development of land-based education in primary and secondary schools? how to keep your animal health inspector happy how to adapt to the changing land-based education environment your land-based btec made easy. insights from new and experienced teachers, with exemplar materials available. there will also be the option of attending breakout sessions in more general topics such as student finance, transition to higher education, careers in the land-based sector, student enterprise and more. the event will equip school and college staff with the knowledge of a niche and specialist land-based employment and he sector, which holds fantastic opportunities for young people in agriculture, business management, equine, food supply chain management, environmental sustainability and estate and land management. who should attend?
